In 1578 Henri de Navarre, surprised by a storm, had to spend the night in the Hostellerie du Bousquet. He found the innkeeper's Saint-Emilion quite strong and his wife particularly welcoming...
The next day, in thanksgiving, the man from Gascogne, with his white plume, allowed his guests to build a small modern castle in the place of their humble home, hence the name of CASTELOT - flanked by two towers and a pigeon tower, the most important in the region, stately symbols.
Hand-picked and sorted in small crates by 120 pickers (clients and clients’ children) in a great enthusiasm, friendship and good humour. As Jean-Pierre PERNAUD commented on TF1 in his 1 p. m. TV news, laughter and singing replace the aggressive noise of the grape harvesting machines.
Visit all year round by appointment to the Henry IV Museum and the Conservatoire de l' outil rural.
